Looking for some smoothie inspiration to increase your plant intake, curb your sweet tooth, fill you up, and cool you off? This recipe is loaded with a variety of plants, tastes delicious and can be easily manipulated depending on the ingredients you have on hand.
Ingredients:
1/2 a frozen banana
5-6 frozen dark cherries (can substitute any berry)
1 handful of frozen spinach (can use cauliflower, butternut squash or kombucha squash as well)
1 TBSP cacao powder
1 date (pitted and let it sit in boiled water for about 5 minutes while you prepare your other ingredients so it blends well)
1 scoop spirulina
1 TBSP collagen
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp maca powder
1 TBSP flax seeds, hemp hearts or chia seeds
4 oz of unsweetened almond or hemp milk
4 oz of water
Super food toppings of your choice (cacao nibs, cinnamon, goji berries, mulberries, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, chopped nuts, coconut flakes)
OPTIONAL: 1 TBSP of unsweetened coconut yogurt on top
Directions:
Put all ingredients in your blender starting with the liquid but leaving off your super food toppings and optional coconut yogurt.
Blend for about 45 seconds until smooth.
Pour into a large glass or mason jar and top to your taste!
Count your plants and enjoy!
